Not too long ago the ability to buy goods and services via the internet with a credit card was a novelty. Now with the proliferation of e-businesses and a buying public more at ease with the Web, making purchases by computer is a way of life. And that is why it’s hard to understand why there are still e-retailers operating that don’t offer their consumers merchant services. One study even indicated that a site that doesn’t process plastic is viewed as less legitimate – that there is something wrong with a company that doesn’t take credit cards. And the irony is the application process with a merchant account company takes less than 15 minutes with some companies up and running within 24 hours.
